Super Soul Sunday with Gary Zukav

Are you ready to tap into your true authentic power? That’s what “The Seat of the Soul” author Gary Zukav and Oprah are discussing under the oaks this Sunday on “Super Soul Sunday.” Before then, read this blog entry from Gary and get ready to tap into your true potential.

Authentic power is the real deal. You can’t inherit it, buy it or win it. You also can’t lose it. You don’t need to build your body, reputation, wealth or charisma to get it. None of that can help you when it comes to creating authentic power. Anyone can become authentically powerful. Even a rockstar or the president of the United States can become authentically powerful, although just being a rockstar or president is no guarantee of authentic power.

TarynCoxTheWife.Com CBS News Feature

I find it shocking that a news station doesn’t fact check before airing a story to the public… So here a few corrections they got wrong in the segment above…

  • The Family I work for lives in Hancock Park NOT Encino
  • I did not say “Freshen up your make and take off your husbands shoes when he comes home.” That is a quote from an article I posted from a 1954 Home Economics text book I found comical.
  • I do not cook or do laundry in vintage dresses.. Unless I just happen to be wearing a vintage dress.

The Donna Reed Show

The Donna Reed Show is an American sitcom which aired on ABC from September 24, 1958 to March 19, 1966. The series stars Donna Reed as Donna Stone, the matriarch of the Stone family. The series was developed by Reed and her then-husband, producer Tony Owen. Its premise focused on middle class couple, Donna Stone (Reed), a housewife to pediatrician Alex Stone, played by Carl Betz. The couple had two children together, Mary (Shelley Fabares) and Jeff (Paul Petersen). Episodes featured problems of the 1950s such as planning a bash for a retiring colleague, firing an inept housekeeper, and finding quality time away from the kids. Below is a favorite episode of mine titled “The Ideal Wife.”

I just love the message this commercial asks “What ever happened to style? Where has the glamour gone?” Sadly its a Chrysler cars commercial, but it still gets the right point across…. We’ve lost our motivation to dazzle and arrive in style! Lets get it back!

GO SEE THIS FILM IMMEDIATELY: “Waiting for Superman”

Documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim explores the tragic ways in which the American public education system is failing our nation’s children, and explores the roles that charter schools and education reformers could play in offering hope for the future. We see the statistics every day — students dropping out, science and math scores falling, and schools closing due to lack of funding. What we don’t see are the names and faces of the children whose entire futures are at stake due to our own inability to enact change. There was a time when the American public education system was a model admired by the entire world. Today other countries are surpassing us in every respect, and the slogan “No Child Left Behind” has become a cynical punch line. The Film Documents Bianca, Emily, Anthony, Daisy, and Francisco who are five students who deserve better. By investigating how the current system is actually obstructing their education instead of bolstering it, Guggenheim opens the door to considering possible options for transformation and improvement. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Mr. and Mrs. Smith Talk Marriage

(Click Play to Watch Video)

Smith may be one of the most common names in America, but this Smith family is anything but ordinary. Will Smith is known as "Mr. July" for the box office bucks he rakes in every summer for his blockbuster films. His wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, does it all—she's a singer as well as the star of the TNT series Hawthorne. And together, they're raising three kids—Trey, Jaden and Willow—and have created one of the most talented families in Hollywood.

Will and Jada say they created what they call a marriage business plan early on. "If you don't have a purpose for your relationship, if you don't have a place that you're going, something that you want to accomplish, something that you want to do, you can really get lost in the murk of the journey," Will says. "There has to be a vision. Like, why are we together?"

The tough part is when two independent visions need to come together as one, Jada says. "I had my vision and he had his, so we had to join it," she says. "Once we started to see how the children were growing and, you know, Willow and Jaden and Trey were becoming their own beings we decided, 'Okay, we want to make a family business. How do we incorporate all the talent that we have in this family?' So that's our vision—to create a place where their dreams can come true as well."
