All Summer in London there were quiet murmurings of a mystery island in England where socialites, celebrities and the jetset went for wild weekends away. The mysterious destination in question…. Osea Island, which has hosted 5 exclusive events over the last few months. Luckily I was one of the selected few that received an invite to experience the island for myself. My invite came in mid June along with 80 other guests. Our host for the weekend was Music Producer, Nigel Frieda, owner of the 400 acre island which is just a few miles from the town of Maldon, in the middle of Essex’s Blackwater Estuary. This past July I decided to whisk myself away for the week, jump on the Eurostar and head to Paris. Despite the setbacks of getting there… My best friend and travel companion came down with the stomach flu the night before leaving, getting ripped off in the cab from the train station, my teenie tiny hotel room (the size of a small mini cooper), Missing the Eli Saab Couture Show and of course the ever present… language barrier. After a mild 2 day tantrum and an expectation shift, the trip turned around for the better!
Although this was not my first trip to Paris, I always enjoy getting lost in the magical city while listening to my ready made French playlists, simultaneously indulging in sugary buttery treats that are washed down with cafe cremes, catching up with long lost friends and sleeping in a charmingly chic apartment in Saint Germain. As many of you know I’ve been spending the Summer in London. The most popular activity among various groups of my friends has been going to weekend festivals. So I thought when in Rome….I’ve now been to 4 Festivals: Glastonbury, Kimberly, Secret Garden Party and Wilderness over the course of 2 months…. and WOW do the British know how to have fun! I also got incredibly lucky with the weather, 80 degrees and clear sunny skies every weekend…are we sure this is London?
My least favorite was Glastonbury, just because of it’s sheer size and the fact that I’ve been spoiled by Coachella all these years. I would definitely recommend Secret Garden Party and Wilderness no matter what your age for a wild, free and fun adventure. Life looks better through the window of a private plane, but I know what your thinking. You hear “private plane” and you see big dollar signs. Well BlackJet has changed the game, sitting at the intersection of private aviation and commercial airlines.
Introducing BlackJet, a luxury booking service offering private transport at a cost rivaling a first class commercial airline ticket. Normally chartering a cross country private plane would put you back anywhere from $25,000 - $35,000 dollars each way. BlackJet which is similar to Uber works like this: Become a member, pay an annual fee of $2,500.00 and book flights through their website or mobile app. A one way between Los Angeles (Van Nuys) and New York (Teterboro) runs about $3,500.00. Instead of booking the whole plane, BlackJet clients reserve an individual seat, which is 100% guaranteed, even if you’re the only passenger on board. Cancellations are allowed up to 3 days prior to departure at no cost.
