Mulberry Dinner

Since Mulberry’s Spring 2012 Ready to Wear took inspiration from the British summer holiday, it seemed only fitting that the L.A. dinner in honor of the collection follow suit. Thus, last night the Chateau Marmont’s pool patio was transformed into a jolly English seaside boardwalk (as envisioned by Mulberry creative director Emma Hill) with animal balloons, floating blow-up alligators and beach balls, sculptures of giant ice cream cones, and festooned Blackpool–style lights. “My nickname is ‘More, more. Bigger, bigger,’ ” said Hill of her approach to party decor.

Despite the carnival-like surroundings, the dinner itself was a relatively low-key and casual affair that drew stylish locals like Gia Coppola, Vogue Contributing Editor Lawren Howell, Nathalie Love, Jaime King, and Jessica Joffe. Tableside Instax Mini cameras and novelty paper glasses with shades that spelled out “Oooh” kept guests occupied until the first course arrived, at which point talk turned to (no surprises here) Hollywood–sanctioned topics like holiday film releases and X Factor eliminations.

An acoustic post-dinner set by sultry chanteuse Lana Del Rey had everyone on the edge of their seats. As Del Rey sang a string of ballads in her signature husky voice, including her hit “Video Games.” - Vogue.Com

Burning Man

(Arriving into Black Rock City)

As crazy and as wild as Burning Man sounds, My three friends, Tom, Tamara, Catherine and I decided to go for it… Figuring why not?!? We’re young and these are the years when you’re meant to experience mysterious and strange places before settling down… Right??? Then in the midst of our planning we got a call from Carl Heline at Krug graciously inviting us to the exclusive Krug Champagne Dinner held at Burning Man. 120 guests would dine on a lavish feast cooked by The Fat Radish Founder/Chef Phil Winser and Ben Towill and sip Krug champagne all evening. So 15 hours we drove in our rented RV to Black Rock City with open minds.

Upon arrival we we’re greeted by a fellow Burner at the entrance who made us get out of our RV and hugged us while saying “Welcome Home!” Then instructed us to lie down in the dirt and make dust angels (similar to snow angels) on the ground, kind of like an initiation for first timers… Welcome to Burning Man!

To my surprise Burning Man was not as extreme, scary or dirty as friends had frightened me into thinking. It is near impossible to explain and or describe in one common theme as there is so much going on and so much to participate in. But I’d like to think of it as a super fun, apocalyptic, neon, playground that Tim Burton could have created on Halloween. Because Burning Man is about freedom of expression and community, everyone is open, friendly and as helpful as can be. I highly recommend going once in your lifetime, it’s one to be added to the bucket list! - Taryn Cox for THE WIFE.

The Orange County Fair

Saturday night my Mom, Richard and I ventured to The Orange County Fair, a perfect way to spend family night on a warm Summer’s eve. We had our photos taken in the photo booth, our handwriting analyzed, played carnival games and played with baby goats. Not to mention the laundry list of fried food we indulged in: Turkey legs, cheese on a stick, chocolate covered bacon, chili cheese fries, grilled corn, Mexican funnel cake and apple fries! Oy! The Orange County Fair is in town until August 14th. Don’t miss out on all the fun! Tickets are 11.00 for adults and $6.00 for children. For more information visit: ocfair.com - Taryn Cox for THE WIFE.

My Father’s Day

This Father’s Day was exceptionally special to me because my Mom’s boyfriend, Richard, has become a very important father figure in my life through out the years. Since he had been hinting all year about taking a trip to Universal Studios, my Mom and I took it upon ourselves to kidnap him for the day. So we spent the day at Universal Studios and honored him for the wonderful gentlemen he is in our lives. - Taryn Cox for THE WIFE.

My Birthday Lunch

Lunch at Border Grill, Although I have to say their food truck is much better!

My Birthday was hands down the happiest birthday I’ve ever had. I spent the day with my family and dear family friends in Santa Monica. We started off with lunch at Border Grill followed by Mani/Pedi’s at Bellacure, a screening of “Hangover 2″ (Which was laugh out loud hilarious!) and dinner at Giorgio Baldi. Above photographed with my wonderful Mother.

Chelsea befriends a four legged friend.

Sunday was spent with my 10 best friends at a “French Rivera/Nautical” themed Birthday lunch at Gjelina in Venice. Afterwards we were meant to go bike riding on the boardwalk followed by drinks on the rooftop bar at the Erwin Hotel. However our plans got derailed by a very windy and cold day… Hopefully to only be postponed till later in the Summer. Above I’m modeling my “French Rivera” Outfit. TarynCoxTheWife.Com CBS News Feature

I find it shocking that a news station doesn’t fact check before airing a story to the public… So here a few corrections they got wrong in the segment above…

  • The Family I work for lives in Hancock Park NOT Encino
  • I did not say “Freshen up your make and take off your husbands shoes when he comes home.” That is a quote from an article I posted from a 1954 Home Economics text book I found comical.
  • I do not cook or do laundry in vintage dresses.. Unless I just happen to be wearing a vintage dress.
