THE WIFE Guide: Body Scrubs

Vitabath Exfoliating Sugar Scrub

Every Wife wants gorgeous skin that is glowing and smooth to the touch, especially with the Summer months right around the corner! Body scrubs are great for maintaining healthy skin by exfoliating off tired and dead skin cells, while moisturizing your entire body at the same time. Add a scrub to your beauty routine once or twice a week in the shower or bath to revitalize and tone your skin. After you have used the polish, rinse the scrub from your legs. Then, use the remaining oils as a shaving oil. It gets an amazingly close shave and your legs look gorgeous and feel soft! The following scrubs are our favorites at THE WIFE and range from affordable to pricey and how to even make your own at home.  –Taryn Cox for THE WIFE

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Scrub; pure Fiji Coconut Milk and Honey Sugar Scrub

Laura Mercier Body Scrub: Inspired by the comforting scent of almond and coconut, this polishing body scrub with sugar granules and exfoliating beads gently smoothes skin. Imitating the islands’ ambiance, Laura created a warm fragrance rich with powdered sugar, vanilla extract and a hint of cinnamon – Includes notes of vanilla mousse as well as vanilla meringue. This body scrub clarifies and tones the skin. Vitamins A & E protect & soothe while Grape & Olive Oils soothe, soften & moisturize skin. $46.00 at Lauramercier.com

Vitabath Sugar Scrub: Vitabath® Exfoliating Sugar Scrub, now in a easy to dispense tube! A luscious blend of sugar granules, Sunflower, Coconut and Macadamia Seed Oils leaves skin feeling silky smooth and intensely hydrated. Vitamins A, B3, C and E help promote glowing, radiant skin. $18.00 at MyVitabath.com

Make Your Own: When making homemade body scrubs, you’ll need to start with a salt or sugar base. Sugar can be gentler on the skin than salt, choose a sugar or salt that has small granules and won’t tear at skin. If you have sensitive skin, try dark brown sugar. Next you’ll need to choose an oil: organic extra virgin coconut oil, almond or olive oil all work great. You want 1 part oil to 2 parts sugar or salt. Go the extra mile and add 5 drops of an essential oil for a delightful scent. Also consider adding lemon zest, dried lavender, thyme or rosemary.
