10 Tips for THE WIFE: Must Have’s For Your Beauty Arsenal

Meet Veronica Taylor, THE WIFE’s new resident beauty guru! You’ll be reading new beauty blog posts from her every month. Veronica is a well traveled model, actress and creator of her own beauty blog called BeautyandTheBooty.Com. Ms Taylor has spent her career on the receiving end of the beauty brush, surrounded by the industry’s top makeup artists and hair stylists. she has been given the magic key to unlock a wealthy treasure of sure-fire glamour tips. She brings a unique perspective on what works and what doesn’t when it comes to feeling good and looking fabulous, and she wants to share her knowledge with you.

1. The Perfect Red Lipstick: Don’t let it intimidate you. Whether it’s deep rouge or a bright berry, a good red lipstick can make date night that much hotter. It’s all a matter of finding the right shade for you.

2. A Good Eyelash Curler: An eyelash curler can really help in keeping you look fresh and awake.  It’s a simple tool, but it makes a huge difference. Invest in the infamous Shu Uemura curler for the best results.

3. Hair Colorist: This is easier said than done. You’ll want someone who knows how to do balayage and a good gloss in between colorings.  And when you find that special someone, don’t be afraid to bring in photos of what you desire.  A good hair colorist will listen and collaborate with their clients.

4. How to Achieve the Perfect Brow: You need to know if you can achieve the perfect brow yourself or if you need to find a brow specialist to do it for you.  If the eyes are the windows to the soul, the brows are the window frames. Their shape can make or break a face. Don’t be scared to fill in brows with different shades of shadow or a pencil to give a more dramatic look.

5. A Signiture Look: Whether it’s a red lip a la The Wife or precise cat eyeliner like myself, every woman needs a go to look she can throw on quickly and feel confident about. Find something that works for you and tweak it so it can work from day to night.

 6. Professional-Grade Styling Tools: Every wife needs the proper tools. Invest in ceramic curling irons and flat irons to keep hair protected from heat damage, andan ionic blow dryer to save you time. Using the bestcan mean the difference between frizzy hair with split ends or commercial worthy tresses.

7. Brushes: From brushing locks to applying makeup, brushes are important items in any wives arsenal.  So, like the other tools I’ve mentioned, invest wisely.  My favorite makeup brushes are by Laura Mercier. (The Finishing Brush and Blending Brush are among my top picks.) They last forever when taken care of properly. As for the best hairbrush, Mason Pearson is where it’s at.

 8. A Dermatologist: You can’t exactly fit the doctor into your medicine cabinet, but this is a must have for every woman. While they’re good for the occasional extraction or peel, what’s truly important is that annual mole check. Some experts recommend that everyone, especially those with a high risk of developing melanoma, have a dermatologist perform a whole body skin exam. Individuals with a family history of melanoma and or atypical nevi (irregular moles that are larger than normal) are particularly high at risk and should be proactive.

 9. A Moisturizer With SPF: You should be putting SPF on everyday, rain or shine. With all we know about skin cancer and anti-aging, it’s silly not to.  My favorite is Murad’s Anti-Aging Moisturizer with SPF. It protects against the sun, fights unwanted breakouts, and layers well under makeup.

10. A Religious Skincare Regimen: Everyone’s face is different and there for you need to find what works specifically for you.  And after you find the perfect combination of products…  Do it!  Don’t let chaotic mornings with the kids or late nights out with the husband stop you from taking care of your skin. Every women needs at least a good cleanser, toner, and moisturizer as the base for her regimen. – Taryn Cox for THE WIFE
