WIFE Tip #18 is Always Travel Chic!
I have a few friends who poke fun at my planned airplane outfits, but the laughing always halts when I’m the first one to be upgraded to first class. It’s very easy and completely possible to look presentably stylish and still be comfortable when traveling. Normally I wear something consisting of black leggings or skinny jeans, a charming top, cashmere sweater to layer, riding boots (that easily zip to get on and off to get through security screenings), with one accessory to avoid complications when walking through metal detectors.
I always pack in my Mulberry carry on: a cashmere wrap just in case of chilly planes, an eye mask for peaceful naps, English Vogue, Vanity Fair (I avoid trashy tabloids at all costs), a good book, my ipod with my “Airplane” playlist, a purchased water bottle after getting through security, and something healthy and organic to munch on since airplane food can be horrific (also to avoid The “Jet Bloat”). – THE WIFE

This may seem like a no brainer, but some overly busy wives may need to be reminded. Every once in a while I run into a friend or wife who blurts out she hasn’t shaved her legs in 2 weeks or what ever the over due time frame may be. And all I can think of when hearing this information is – Her poor husband who is stuck caressing her gross hairy and prickly legs. Which is why Tip number 17 is: A good WIFE should shave her legs every day or every other day. And if shaving your legs in too much of a dreaded chore, look into laser hair removal. An extra tip… And if you’ve found yourself out of shaving cream while in the shower, use your husband’s or any hair conditioner (conditioner actually makes your legs extra silky and soft.) - Taryn Cox

Tip #16…. Now, I’m sure every WIFE will have their own opinion and opinion for their husband. But I believe that men, boyfriends or husbands should ever be burdened by buying tampons or other feminine products. Trust me when I say men don’t ever dream of running this dreaded errand. This is your body and as a women you are responsible for making these purchases for yourself. So with that said Tip#16 is… A good wife should be well organized and know her cycle well enough to make these personal purchases for herself, not bothering her husband for last minute trips to the pharmacy. – Taryn Cox

(Photographed above my hand addressed Christmas cards waiting to be put in the post.)
A good WIFE should have the most beautiful and neat handwriting. This always comes in handy when writing Thank You notes, Addressing Cards, and Sharing Recipes. This is one quality the WIFE should never be without. If you worry about your penmanship then might I suggest purchasing some handwriting notebooks (they can be found at amazon.com). Or if you want to take your excellent writing to the next level enroll yourself in a calligraphy class (check paper source.com for class schedule) Practice makes perfect! – Taryn Cox

Faber Castell Artist Pens are my favorite pens to write letters, cards and notes with. I prefer the Medium point pen, I think its the smoothest. They are available at any art store.
Zig Calligraphy Double ended Pens make addressing envelopes a breeze! I like using the smaller end of the pen. Its the exact pen I used to write the addresses with in the photo above.
Also available at art stores.

One of my favorite vintage teal night gowns, made with antique lace. with matching ‘Do Not Disturb’ sleeping mask that I bought on my first trip to New York from Patricia Fields. To my right, My old time buddy, Snickerdoodles…
Tip#4 is a good WIFE should wear beautiful nightgowns to bed! Enough of looking like dead mommy when you climb into bed. Think of it like dressing up for your Sweet dreams!
This post is part two to Tip #4.
One of my favorite things about going to bed is not only putting on a gorgeous silk and lace night gown, But collecting beautiful vintage nightgowns. (like the ones I’m modeling above.) What I love about them most is every single one I find is unique and one of a kind. And the extra bonus is they are very inexpensive. My Favorite place for vintage finds is American Rag in Newport Beach and Los Angeles.

I write Thank you notes for anything and everything.
A good Wife writes thoughtful handwritten Thank You Notes for Gifts received and Other Kind Acts of Generosity.
Orginally Thank you notes for Hospitality or attending a Dinner at friend’s home used to be called “Bread and Butter Letters.” The logic of “bread and butter letter,” a term first appearing in print in the US in the early 20th century, seems to fall somewhere between those two uses. The writer is thanking his or her hosts for their hospitality (and food), but the letter is also a basic social formality, not likely to contain any exciting content. A “bread and butter” note may not be eagerly awaited, but it’s the sort of thing expected and probably noticed most in its absence.
Occasions when a Thank You Card Should be sent.
*Thank you for anyone who’s treated you to a meal out… Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner or Cocktails
*Gifts Recieved
*Being Invited to a Dinner, Party or Event
*A Date ( Men Love this… Trust me! )
*Anyone who has offered to take time out from their life to help you
*Anyone who has gone out of their way to make special arrangements or plans.
*Thank you after an interview for a job.

A good WIFE has beautifully manicured Nails and Toes.
Especially Women who are newly engaged. When showing off your new Diamond ring you do not want people to have to look at your jagged hang nails and uneven nail beds. Now manicures can be costly, especially if you treat yourself once a week. An alternative would be to give yourself an at home manicure
( see next post ).
My Nail Routine:
I always make sure my cuticles are cut, Nails are filed and even.
Paint them with a base coat ( Sally Hansen’s Maximum growth ) To keep my Nails Healthy and Strong.
Then use Essie’s “Sugar Daddy” Nail Polish. “Sugar Daddy” is a great sheer pink color that is normally used for french manicures. It naturally makes your nails look healthy and gives them a bit of an extra shine.

A good Wife should know How to Properly Order Flowers.
NEVER order flowers online ( ie. Teleflora, FTD, Etc. )
ALWAYS do research when using a florist your not familiar with.
Always see what kind of website the Florist has, Most are terrible and the Arrangements are tasteless and tacky. My Rule of thumb is – When ordering flowers in a town you don’t know. Call a 5 Star hotel in the Area ( Example, The Four Seasons ) and ask which Florist they use for the Hotel.
BE SPECIFIC: To make sure a florist will deliver a tasteful arrangement. Be very Specific in what you want. I always make sure arrangements are in square pave glass vase. Choose 1 or 2 Specific flowers in a desired color, and make sure they NEVER use filler flowers ( Example Babies Breathe.. Yuck! ) I always Trust a Fantastic Florist like the Empty Vase, All Their arrangements look spectacular. And I have been using them For years.
Examples:
GOOD

BAD
( Don’t even get me started on How awful this is…. OMG! )

Yesterday I had my 6 Month Dental Cleaning… No Cavities of Course! And while I’m Obbsessive about Brushing, Tongue Scrapping and flossing twice a day. I Learned this Shocking Information… FLOSSING EVERYDAY ADDS 5 YEARS TO YOUR LIFE! Flossing reduces inflammation in the mouth. When your gums are inflammed they produce bacteria. The Bacteria from your mouth goes through your body into your veins and arteries causing everything from Heart Disease to Pre -Mature Birth. They also recommend using a tongue scrapper, which also cutts down on bad breathe. Think of all the money you’ll save on Gum and Mints!

My Favorite Floss by Oral B. and Tongue Scrapper by Dentek

Wear Sunscreen Under Your Make-Up Everyday!
Exposure to ultraviolet light, UVA or UVB, from sunlight accounts for 90% of the symptoms of premature skin aging including wrinkles. The most important skin-care product available to prevent wrinkles is sunscreen, but most people do not use sunscreen correctly. Important factors to consider with sunscreen use are the spectrum of UV radiation absorbed, the amount of sunscreen applied, and the frequency of application.
