Just in Time for Spring, Vampire Weekend released their bright sophomore album ‘Contra’, packed with tons of orchestral confetti. Their happy go lucky tunes like “Giving up the Gun” and “Horchata” are perfect to welcome the spring, knowing that Summer sun is just around the corner. A Favorite of mine is “Diplomat’s Son” with reggae influences, makes you wish you were on a sun drenched beach. The entire album instantly put you in a good mood, its like being in a Disneyland parade. Contra is a must own album for 2010! – THE WIFE

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Sade has realised her new Album “Solider of Love.” It has been a much anticipated, since her last album “Lovers Rock” was realised over 10 years ago. Sade managed to produce another flawless collection of melancholy hits like songs “Solider of Love” and ”In Another Time,” My personal favorites. Even though it is quite a cliche it’s a must own for love making and quiet nights in with the one you love. Available on iTunes for $10.99 – THE WIFE

Don’t let the name “The XX” fool you. At first glance they could be written off as a punk band, but as soon as the music fades in its all seductively calm and gentle music. The more you listen to tunes like “Intro,” “Islands,” and “Basic Space” the more addicting it becomes. I highly recommend it for sunsets and dinner parties. Available on iTunes for $9.99. – THE WIFE

I know this album came out years ago and Volume Two is just around the corner from being released. I was listening to this delightful album today, and wanted to share it with all you wives and wives to be. It’s such fun girlie music with hints of sweet country flavor in “Take it back” and 1950’s doo wop in my favorite “I was made for you.” If your wondering who “She” is, it’s actress Zooey Deschanel and “Him” is M. Ward and together they make the greatest music. All the songs are simple and easy to love. – THE WIFE
Available on iTunes for $9.99
January 21st, 2010 — Interior Design, Kids, Music
Kiddie Records Weekly began in 2005 as a one year project devoted to the golden age of children’s records. This period spanned from the mid forties through the early fifties and produced a wealth of all-time classics. Many of these recordings were extravagant Hollywood productions on major record labels and featured big time celebrities and composers.
Over the years, these forgotten treasures slipped off the radar and it became our mission to give them a new lease on life by sharing them with today’s generation of online listeners. Each week throughout the year we’ll add a new recording.
So whether you are hearing these records for the first time or reuniting with a childhood favorite from long ago, we hope you take great pleasure in your trip down memory lane!
I also thought that if you found Kids Records from the 1940’s or 50’s at antique fairs or records stores they would make great pieces of art to frame and hang in a child’s nursery or room. Another decorating tip from THE WIFE!
